A Need So Beautiful by Suzanne Young (ARC)

Synopsis: We all want to be remembered. Charlotte's destiny is to be Forgotten...

Charlotte’s best friend thinks Charlotte might be psychic. Her boyfriend thinks she’s cheating on him. But Charlotte knows what’s really wrong: She is one of the Forgotten, a kind of angel on earth, who feels the Need—a powerful, uncontrollable draw to help someone, usually a stranger.

But Charlotte never wanted this responsibility. What she wants is to help her best friend, whose life is spiraling out of control. She wants to lie in her boyfriend's arms forever. But as the Need grows stronger, it begins to take a dangerous toll on Charlotte. And who she was, is, and will become--her mark on this earth, her very existence--is in jeopardy of disappearing completely.

Charlotte will be forced to choose: Should she embrace her fate as a Forgotten, a fate that promises to rip her from the lives of those she loves forever? Or is she willing to fight against her destiny--no matter how dark the consequences?

I have read Suzanne Young before (The Naughty List) and loved the cuteness of it. This book was so different. It was nothing like the fluffy, light read that The Naughty List was. This book was more thoughtful, deep, and memorable.
Right from page one, there's something interesting going on in this novel. It grips your attention and doesn't allow for you to let go until you've read the last page. Our main character, Charlotte Cassidy, has these compulsions that she calls Needs that force her to help someone. Help, I think, is too light of a word. Usually, these Needs change or save people's lives. Charlotte hates them. She wants to be normal. She's confused and she just wants to live with her dreamy boyfriend, Harlin. But Needs aren't something that she can control.
Charlotte's story is filled with love, sacrifice and thrills. It will keep you thinking about it long after you've finished. This story is touching and very captivating. I really enjoyed reading it.
I give this book 4 keys.
