Blog Tour: Pure by Jennifer L. Armentrout + Giveaway!

Publication Date: April 3, 2012
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press
Format: ARC
Page Count: 329
SynopsisThere is need. And then there is Fate...

Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome--especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom--so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do--and sacrifice--for her.

When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies--lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon... and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude... or killing her.

When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.
Review: I LOVED the first book, Half-Blood, so I was so excited when I got the second book. I'm happy to say that Pure doesn't disappoint.

Alex is just as lovable as she was in the first book. She's extremely stubborn, strong, and hilarious. She's irrational and reckless, often getting reprimanded for it, but that just makes her even better. Plus, she always knows how to kick butt. There's not much growth in Alex as a character in this book, but there's definitely a ton of growth in the other characters!

Let's move on to the love triangle. I cannot believe Jennifer L. Armentrout did this to me. Aiden, my sweet Aiden, is no longer sweet. He's hot and cold, which drove me crazy. I just couldn't find it in me to like him anymore. Seth, on the other hand, completely won my heart. I liked him a lot in Half-Blood, but in Pure, he just stole the show. He's perverted and funny, but he's also super sweet and always there for Alex, especially when Aiden's not. I'm okay if Alex ends up with either of them, but right now, I'm loving Seth.

The plot in this book is fabulous. It's paced perfectly and the action is thrilling. There's tons of romance, which I love. There's also some mystery involved. There are still several strings that haven't been tied yet. I hope that they will be explained in Deity!

Overflowing with wit, romance, and action, Pure is a fabulous follow-up to Half-Blood. I think I loved Half-Blood more, but I'm still incredibly excited for Deity!

   4.5 keys.

  4. "Aiden, my sweet Aiden, is no longer sweet. He's hot and cold, which drove me crazy. I just couldn't find it in me to like him anymore."

DAMMIT!!!! I was so nervous this was going to happen and I could just cry! I hate the hot and cold nonsense, though it does of course get me emotionally involved in the book. Now I'm all hesitant to pick this one up even though I have a deep-rooted need to know what happens! Thanks for the heads up Sophia:)

  5. Seth completely stole the show for me too! I liked Aiden at first (he was so good and sweet in the first book) but my reaction to him in this was, "eh." I'm so excited for Deity!

  7. Awww the love triangle. Sorry but while Seth does redeem himself in this book - he is no Aiden! Aiden is hot and cold because he is struggling to control the feelings he has for Alex that he knows will hurt her if they act on them. He proves just how much he cares for Alex at the end of this book. I am now and will forever be #TeamAiden.

Nice review. I love your opinions of Alex - so right on.

Thanks for being on the tour.

  18. Half-Blood reminded a little too much of Vampire Academy, a series I loved, so I'm hoping Pure kind of gets away from that and develops its own thing. I loved Aiden so it's too bad he drove you a little crazy, Sophia. But, I can't wait to have more of Seth!

  20. Brilliant review, Sophia! I adored this book too but honestly, the love-triangle drove me insane! I am still firmly rooted in Team Aiden's side, but my word, Seth definitely did stand out in this book! I'm glad you loved it too. :)

  22. Sophia, your review is AMAZING! I struggled whether to buy this or not, but after reading your review, this is definitely on my wishlist! I just hope that I'm going to like the love triangle... I usually quite picky about love triangle in books! So glad you love this book, Sophia! x)

  23. Wonderful review, Sophia! I already have this and can't wait to read it even though I had issues with the first book (mostly because of the similarities to VA), but I'm waiting to clear my Netgalley list first. I'm glad this didn't disappoint you, and I can be rather difficult about love triangles too, but everyone keeps saying this is a good one.

  24. Ahh! I can't wait to get this book but a hot and cold Aiden how will I ever cope with that? He may have good reasons but it still frustrates me when my fave characters get hurt. But I think I stay on #Team Aiden.
I know the second I finish Pure I will want to read Deity.
